Former NYWLE Board Member, Tara Comiskey, was promoted to Deputy Inspector for the Nassau County Police Department on June 12, 2017. Tara served on the Board of Directors from 2011 to 2014 and headed the Website & Technology Committee through those years. The newly appointed Deputy Inspector is currently assigned as the Deputy Commanding Officer of the Fourth Precinct. She has been a sworn police officer with the Nassau County Police Department since 1997, and has served as a Detective in the Narcotics Vice Squad and Special Services Squad, and also rose through the ranks as a Sergeant (2007), Detective Sergeant (2010), Lieutenant (2014), and Captain (January 2017).
Tara is also a Juris Doctor, after graduating from St. John's University, School of Law and is licensed to practice law in New York and Connecticut. Additionally she holds an MA from Regent University and an MBA from Adelphi School of Business. She is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and has served on Legal Committees of the Major Cities Chiefs Association and the International Association of Chiefs of Police. She also developed NCPD's Equal Opportunity Law training curriculum.
The Nassau County Police Department serves a population of 1.3 million people. With almost 2400 sworn members and 1200 civilian personnel the Department is among the largest municipal law enforcement agencies in the United States. Congratulations Deputy Inspector Comiskey!
